Sustainability
At Dijk Natural Collections, we truly believe that beautiful products go beyond aesthetics. For over thirty years, we have been committed to making responsible choices at every step of the supply chain: from design to delivery. Transparency, respect for people and nature, and a focus on quality form the foundation of everything we do.
Sustainability and Quality
Since 2020, Dijk Natural Collections has had a dedicated ESG department responsible for sustainability, quality, product safety and (social) compliance throughout our organisation. Every day, we work on legislation and regulations, environmental responsibility, product quality and responsible business practices.
Our products comply with all relevant legislation and are tested by independent laboratories such as TÜV Rheinland and SGS. In addition, we carry out quality inspections together with our local QC teams to ensure product safety and quality throughout the production process.
Responsible Material Selection
We carefully select materials that minimize environmental impact:
- Wood: We are FSC® certified under certificate number CU-COC-875194 | FSC-C162248. Ask us about our FSC®-certified products. The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is dedicated to promoting responsible forest management worldwide. For specific product groups, such as teak from Indonesia, we also work with recognised systems such as SVLK (Indonesian Legal Wood), which is part of the FLEGT license system for legally sourced timber. For more information, visit www.fsc.org.
- Recycled Glass: 27% of our glass collection is made from European glass, helping reduce raw material use and transportation emissions.
- Vintage: We give materials a second life through curated vintage items such as tables, bowls, and molds.
- Packaging: We’ve replaced plastic packing slips with fully recycled paper versions, significantly reducing our environmental impact.
Production
Through regular visits to production sites and the use of social audits such as amfori BSCI, SMETA and SA8000, we gain insight into working conditions throughout our supply chain. Together with our suppliers, we continuously work to improve working conditions, transparency and responsible business practices.
Sustainable Production and Logistics
We continuously invest in processes that are both efficient and future-proof:
- Internal transport: 100% electric, powered by our own solar panels.
- Man Up Truck & Dijk Mover: Innovative solutions that reduce physical strain and improve productivity..
- Extern transport: We work with logistics partners who also place a strong focus on sustainability. Some of them already operate partly with electric vehicles, HVO10 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) or hydrogen-powered transport.
- Packaging optimisation: By optimising our packaging, we have reduced the number of outgoing pallets by 10%.
Energy and Internal Initiatives
- 1,600 solar panels provide all the energy we need.
- LED lighting and nano-foil packaging help reduce waste and energy consumption.
Knowledge Sharing and Development
As an active member of the Logistics Knowledge Center, we contribute to innovation across the logistics sector. Within our organisation, we apply Lean 5S principles to reduce waste, improve safety, and create a more efficient workplace.
Recognition
In 2024, we received the SDG distinction (Sustainable Development Goals) in recognition of our commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
We remain committed to developing new sustainable initiatives. This distinction confirms our commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices and motivates us to continue building a more sustainable future.
